Elena is an entomologist and butterfly specialist. She has plenty of experience in butterfly collections, phylogenetics and systematics. Her research has focused on understanding systematics and evolutionary history of butterflies and in particular a colorful group in the Nymphalidae family. She is currently a professor at the British International School in Barranquilla.

Sergio Chaparro HerreraAssociate Researchersergioupn at gmail.com
Sergio joined our lab as a staff scientist. He is mainly working on the project related to the influence of environmental gradients on bird community composition but has also actively participated and come up with a number of projects and proposals investigating the systematics of Glaucidium brasilianum, ecology and conservation of Megascops gilesi and creation of environemental niche models for all species of the dry forests in Colombia. He is one of the lead researchers in the Atlapetes project that investigates the ecology and natural history of a recently re-discovered bird species in Colombia that was thought to be extinct since the 70's.

Meriele Rebolledo
PhD. Natural Sciences
Meriele is a Biologist and recent graduate from our Master's program in Natural Sciences. She is one of the recipients of the Bicentenario Scholarships from the National Ministry of Sciences in Colombia to pursue her PhD. She is broadly interested on pollination systems and their implications on plant's reproductive success. In the last years, she has focused her interests on understandign how the study of functional traits involved in plant-animal interactions and climatic niches help understand the selective forces that favor evolutionary transitions in pollinations systems in tropical plants.

Master Natural Sciences
Juan Salvador MendozaHis thesis focuses on studying population dynamics and conservation of American Crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) in shore swamps of the Magdalena department in Colombia. |
Julieth A. PrietoJulieth's interests are focused on conservation and land management. His current job as an officer at Corpamag has inspired her to propose her thesis investigating the distribution of human threats on aquatic mammals and reptiles across the shores of the Magdalena Department. |
